Captain’s BZ: autumn 2022

Captain Sea Cadets celebrates some of the achievements of cadets and units around the UK

BZ is a naval term that means ‘well done’. It comes from the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags being flown together

Remembrance

Whitstable Sea Cadets commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War and the lives lost by walking 40 miles. Overall, they completed 4.5 miles each, totalling 82 miles. They also spoke to the Deputy District Officer Lieutenant (SCC) Fenn, a veteran of the war.

Bouncing back

Bridport Sea Cadets has more cadets and qualified volunteers than at pre-pandemic levels. After lockdown the unit was down to just two cadets, and some volunteer qualifications had lapsed. BZ all for coming back stronger than before.

Just rewards

POC Sophie from Greenock Sea Cadets has been appointed Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet for Renfrewshire. Sophie will assist the Lord-Lieutenant in his official engagements, and serve as ambassador for her unit. “It means a lot to me to have been appointed, says Sophie. “It shows that all my efforts have paid off. I’m really looking forward to meeting new people and hearing their stories.”
