Captain’s BZ: Autumn 2025

Captain Sea Cadets celebrates some of the achievements of cadets and units around the UK - this issue, the spotlight is on Edgware & Mill Hill Unit

BZ is a naval term that means ‘well done’. It comes from the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags being flown together.

I love to celebrate the achievements of the units who are helping cadets and volunteers achieve their potential and playing a leading role in community life. This issue, I’m shining a spotlight on Edgware & Mill Hill Unit.

Thanking supporters

March saw cadets and volunteers provide an immaculate carpet guard at a Buckingham Palace reception to thank donors to our TS Royalist appeal. The team also enjoyed speaking with our Patron and Admiral, HRH The Princess Royal, and won praise from our President, Admiral Sir Phil Jones.

A special tribute

The unit was proud to represent Sea Cadets at the annual Belgian Cenotaph Parade in July. Cadets Bianca, Christina and Jaydon showed great dignity and respect during this unique event to honour the heroism and sacrifice of the Belgian Army in World War I.

Going the extra mile

An amazing effort from Cadet Sam saw him raise over £1,000 for the unit, with a sponsored walk from his Hertfordshire home to the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich – completing over 20 miles in just 11 hours despite it being a hot July day. BZ Sam!
