Captain’s BZ: Summer 2026
As Captain Sea Cadets, some of my first visits of spring provided a great opportunity to meet and celebrate outstanding volunteers who are doing so much for our young people. I began with a return to my childhood region of the North East!
A night on the Tyne
I was delighted to attend a vibrant parade night with Newburn Unit at TS Tyne – highlights of which were watching classes, taking part in an online Cadet Voice forum and presenting PO (SCC) Peter Fairbairn RNR with his Cadet Forces Medal!
Green shoots of growth
Middlesbrough Unit are doing their bit to help grow the Corps with a new ‘embryo’ group at Darlington. After meeting the fledgling ship’s company, I was so impressed by their delivery and plans for growth that I endorsed their application to become a full unit.
90 years of impact
Heading down to West Wales, I was honoured to attend Swansea Unit’s 90th Anniversary Ball. As well as celebrating the rich history of TS Ajax, I was also thrilled to present Llanelli Unit’s S/Lt (SCC) Nigel Morton RNR with his Officer’s Commissioning Scroll!
