The Sea Cadets guide to managing anxiety

Sometimes it seems like there are a lot of things to worry about and anyone can experience anxiety. We asked our social media community for their best tips to reduce feeling anxious and how to deal with it

Here are three more suggestions of things you could try if you experience anxiety:

  • Tap your thumb on each fingertip one at a time for one minute to distract yourself.
  • Try the ‘3-3-3 Rule’: name 3 things you see, 3 things you hear, then move 3 parts of your body.
  • Box breathing: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, breathe out for 4, hold for 4. Repeat. Look at or
visualise a square shape and follow the lines as you breathe.
