BZ is a naval term that means ‘well done’. It comes from the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags being flown together.

Giving back

Filey Unit’s OC Aiden, 14, has enjoyed his Sea Cadets Experience so much, he is aiming to raise £2,000 for the unit between February and September. By dog-walking, shopping and car-washing in the community, he raised £260 within the first two weeks!

Restoring respect

Six cadets from Long Eaton Unit began the volunteering section of their Bronze DofE Award by restoring the final resting places of servicemen. Working with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, they also aim to research their lives, saying: “It’s only right that we look after those who gave everything for our freedom.”

Racing ahead

Supported by our Midlands Boat Station, AC Dan and OC Libby of Shirley Unit entered the prestigious Steve Nicholson Trophy meeting at Northampton Sailing Club. Against tough competition they ended up winning the double-hander Youth Prize, while the event raised £1,500 for Asthma & Lung UK.
