BZ is a naval term that means ‘well done’. It comes from the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags being flown together.

Safe passage

BZ to Cadet Lance Corporal Dylan of Whitley Bay Royal Marines Cadets, who won high praise from our Offshore Team while completing his Watch Leader (Power) module on TS Jack Petchey, from Dublin to Belfast. He took command of the bridge and led a team of cadets in executing his own route plan, a passage of 70 nautical miles, in Force 5 winds.

A natural leader

City of Liverpool Unit’s POC Eva-Stefania was recognised for her leadership and management skills at the 2023 Cadet Vocational College Westminster Awards, where she received the ILM Achievement Award. Well done to Eva-Stefania, one of only 15 finalists selected from across the UK’s cadet forces to take part in a two-week expedition of conservation volunteering.

Marking a milestone

Congratulations to Cadet James of Middleton & Chadderton Unit, who was presented with the Commodore’s Broad Pennant Award – the highest achievement for a junior cadet – before moving up to Sea Cadets at the end of summer. James, now 12, was proud to be one of the few to reach this milestone in Manchester District.
