Getting more young people on the water
Another hugely successful run of our outreach project saw young people gain new skills, make new friends and form memories that will last a lifetime
This year’s On the Water outreach project was another resounding success, targeting and empowering nearly 1,000 hard-to-reach young people across Birmingham, Liverpool and London to push beyond their limits and experience the excitement of watersports.
While it may be over for another summer, the memories will stay with these young people for years to come – along with the lasting impact on personal growth and skills development.
“Sea Cadets is all about giving young people skills, confidence and the chance to make new friends through nautical adventure and fun,” says Hugo Dell, Head of Outreach at Sea Cadets. “It’s only right to provide these opportunities to those who would benefit most but, due to financial or other barriers, have never had the chance.”
We’ve been running On The Water since 2019, and it continues to be a hit with participants, who describe it as “awesome”, “exciting” and “loads of fun”. None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our funders. A heartfelt thank you to the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, Gosling Foundation, Trinity House and others for making this project a reality!
